The family that owns this home had decided that they wanted to stay in their neighborhood but needed more house. The solution was to purchase the house next door, demolish it and expand their home. The addition more than doubles the size of the existing home. One of its key features is an exterior courtyard that is surrounded the entry hall, the living room, the kitchen and the sunroom. The new kitchen and sunrooms have soaring ceilings with large windows into the courtyard. The sunroom opens to a new covered porch overlooking a new lap pool. There is a game room and a workout room with an adjacent full bath. The workout room is situated at the end of the lap pool. When opening the glass walls of the workout room the view along the pool is framed by the new covered porch and an existing massive tree.
The addition was designed to be in the same style as the existing home with a tumbled brick veneer and heavy timber detailing. The home's entry is being moved to the addition to be centrally located and to open into views of the internal courtyard.
